Wenger on managerial rivals
Arsene Wenger has claimed Manuel Pellegrini has the experience to cope with the uncertainty surrounding his job in the build-up to Monday’s clash with Arsenal.
But the Gunners boss offered little sympathy to his old nemesis Jose Mourinho.
Pep Guardiola looks set to take over at Manchester City next season when he leaves Bayern Munich, leaving the Chilean manager in the position of being dead-man walking for the rest of this campaign despite City still competing for the Premier League and Champions League titles.
I don’t know if that’s to City - that’s down to media speculation and I don’t know where that comes from,” Wenger insisted. “It’s very difficult to master nowadays, to have this kind of speculation.
“If you look at Real Madrid, there is always speculation. It looks like it’s part of our job now
On Alexis.
Alexis Sanchez may feature against Manchester City
Alexis Sanchez could make his return to face Manchester City on Monday night - but Arsene Wenger warned he might protect his Chile striker from coming back too soon from his hamstring injury.
Sanchez suffered the strain at Norwich on November 29 and Arsenal have won all three matches since.
“Everybody who played against Aston Villa is available for Monday night and one or two possibly could make their comeback,” said Wenger.
“There is a very slight chance for Sanchez to be in the squad again but it is too early to be sure about it. He is running but not participating in full training.”
Sanchez is understood to be keen to return for the top-of-the-table clash between the two favourites for the Premier League title.
