Mesut Ozil has hailed Zinedine Zidane's appointment at Real Madrid, describing the former player as "one of the greatest of all time".

Rafael Benitez was sacked on Monday after a run of poor results and amid reports of dressing room unrest, with the Castilla coach stepping up to take the reins of the senior squad.

Zidane was one of president Florentino Perez's key 'Galacticos' upon his arrival for a then world-record fee of £45.8 million, and went on to win La Liga and the Champions League before retiring in 2006.
